Armely Visit to Shades Children's Home

At Armely, we believe in the power of giving back and making a difference in the lives of those in need. On March 8, 2025, our Kenyan team, in partnership with Rosamor Foundation, embarked on a meaningful visit to Shades Children’s Home, a sanctuary for 35 children aged 2 to 18. The goal? To share love, donate essential supplies, and spend quality time with the children, leaving behind lasting smiles and cherished memories.

A Morning Filled with Purpose

The day began at 9:00 AM in Thika town, where our team gathered to purchase essential items for the children. From food supplies to hygiene products, every contribution was thoughtfully selected to positively impact the home. With our donations secured, we made our way to the home, filled with anticipation and excitement.

Upon arrival at 11:00 AM, the children, caregivers, and fellow volunteers welcomed us with warm smiles. The energy was infectious, setting the tone for an incredible day ahead. After introductions, we dived into a schedule packed with activities designed to make a difference.

Giving Back Through Action

Beyond donations, we wanted to contribute physically and emotionally, ensuring our time at Shades Children's Home left a tangible impact. Our team split into groups, each focusing on different aspects of service:

🫓 Cooking Up Joy – The children’s favorite chapati and beef stew were on the menu! Led by Martin M, Martin W, and Ephy W., our team prepared a hearty meal while bonding over shared stories and laughter.

🧹 Cleaning & Housekeeping – We rolled up our sleeves to clean the compound, mop floors, and organize sleeping areas. Fresh bedsheets were spread across the dormitories, bringing a sense of comfort to the children.

🧺 Laundry & Hygiene – Washing clothes, drying them in the sun, and ensuring clean utensils kept the home sparkling and refreshed.

👦 Mentorship & Playtime – While chores were being handled, other team members engaged in mentorship sessions with the older children, sharing insights on education, career goals, and personal growth. For the little ones, it was all about games, storytelling, and laughter.

Sharing a Meal, Sharing Moments

As the aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, it was time to gather for a shared meal. Lunch wasn’t just about nourishment—it was a moment of connection, of listening to the children’s dreams and stories. Seeing their eyes light up with excitement made every effort worthwhile.

The day’s biggest highlight? The entertainment session!

🎶 Music, dance, and singing competitions brought out the best of everyone. The joy was contagious as children showcased their incredible talents. Small prizes were awarded to boost confidence and encourage participation. The grand finale? A lively group dance, where volunteers and children moved together in harmony, creating an unforgettable experience.
